#10 – Edward Weevil
Edward Weevil, or “Whitebeard Jr.”, is the self-proclaimed son of “Whitebeard” Edward Newgate and one of the Shichibukai.
His powers have been praised by Kizaru who compared his abilities to that of a younger Whitebeard, his alleged father. He was able to single-handedly defeat 16 pirate crews affiliated with Whitebeard, including the A.O Pirates, without taking a single injury.
#9 – Ashura Doji / Denjiro
Ashura Doji is a retainer of the Kozuki Family and is one of the Nine Red Scabbards once led by Kozuki Oden.
Combat-wise, Ashura Doji is extremely powerful, as he was once feared as the “Strongest Monster of Kuri”, the most dangerous villain frequenting said Wano province in its era of chaos, until he was defeated by Oden four decades ago. In the present, Ashura claims that he has gotten stronger in the last 20 years. Even Kaido, one of the Yonko, sought to recruit him, and Kin’emon hails him as being worth the strength of 100 men.
Most impressively yet, Ashura was able to fight on par with Jack, Kaido’s right hand worth a 1,000,000,000 Berries bounty, even dealing him a serious wound.
Despite his large build, Ashura is extremely fast, being capable of charging towards Jack in an instant. He also possesses a great amount of endurance, as he was seemingly unaffected when Jack cut him on the shoulder.
He is a master swordsman and one of the most powerful samurai in Wano. With one slash, he was able to give Jack a large cut across his chest and break one of his shotel blades. Ashura possesses an advanced level of Busoshoku Haki, which allows him to cut through Kaido’s tremendously tough skin.
Denjiro is an extremely skilled and powerful swordsman with immense physical strength. His skill was shown when he deflected a powerful flying slash from Roronoa Zoro with ease and proceeded to evenly clash with Zoro’s Nitoryu with only one sword for a brief time, preventing him from going after Orochi. He is masterful enough to have been able to precisely cut through the blood bag Hiyori wore under her kimono without striking her body, allowing them to fake her death while she remained unharmed in reality. He is also able to cleanly cut through a massive Beasts Pirates ship with a flying slash.
Denjiro possesses an advanced level of Busoshoku Haki, which allows him to cut through Kaido’s tremendously tough skin.
#8 – “Flower Sword” Vista
Flower Sword” Vista is the 5th division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. He is one of the most prominent members of his crew.
Vista has tremendous physical strength and extraordinary mastery in dual wielding swordsmanship and even Mihawk, who is known as the strongest swordsman in the world, acknowledges his skills. Vista even managed to deflect Mihawk’s flying slash attack which is powerful enough to cut through battleships. In the anime, he was also able to block bullets with his swords to protect his allies from being shot while escaping.
#7 – Lucky Roo
Lucky Roo is one of Yonko Shanks’ most important men. He’s the first person to kill someone both in the anime and the manga, by shooting a mountain bandit in the head at point blank range.
During Romance Dawn, we see one of Higuma’s men pointing a gun at Shanks’ head, then after Shanks warns him suddenly Lucky Roo appears and shoots him. Now here’s the question, how can a big man like that go there that quickly without being noticed? It is likely that he is based on Lucky Luke (a fictional cowboy -gunfighter- from the “Lucky Luke” Franco-Belgian comic book) that is known as “The man who shoots faster than his shadow”.
Lucky Roo he’s supposed to be a Haki master or, anyway, a master in something different; in particular, many speculated that he uses a technique called “Life Return”. In this case, Lucky Roo eats so much because he is storing energy for a battle. Life Return gives him the ability to control his body; this can be used to turn fat into muscle, or just turn fat into energy.
#6 – Benn Beckman
Benn Beckman has the highest IQ of anyone in the East Blue. Across his voyages he’s learned a lot of experience, with an incredibly advanced intellect and great thinking capabilities.
When the Red Hair Pirates arrived at Marineford to stop the war, Beckman was able to climb on to a Marine ship’s mast and sit on it, all the while pointing his flintlock at Kizaru, without the latter noticing. Admiral Kizaru chose not to fight him, even though he had just fought the First Commander of Whitebeard’s crew and Whitebeard himself.
According to “One Piece: Vivre Card Databook” Benn Beckman is almost as strong as Shanks! His card says that Benn is incredible powerful in terms of physical combat. The card even says that “Comparable to Red Hair’s, this man’s existence is feared by even the powerful warriors of the New World!!”
#5 – Kong
Kong is the World Government Commander-in-Chief. He was the Fleet Admiral of the Marines at the time of the Battle in Edd War twenty-seven years ago and at the time of Gol D. Roger’s execution twenty-four years ago.
Due to his muscles, his former rank in the Marines, and his numerous scars, he could be considered as one of the strongest marines ever, however he still has yet to reveal his powers in the series.
#4 – Dracule Mihawk
Mihawk is the current holder of the title, “Greatest Swordsman in the World”.
Part of Mihawk’s reputation as the most powerful master swordsman in the world is also due to his tremendous superhuman physical power and fortitude which supplements his mastery of swordsmanship. He possesses an immense amount of skill in battle and has exceptional eyesight.
The fact that Mihawk used to be a rival of one of the Yonko implies that Mihawk might be one of the strongest characters in the series. Infact he has been known to have frequently fought with Shanks when they were younger. Their battles were said to shake the whole of the Grand Line and Mihawk often sought Shanks out for duels. However, Mihawk lost interest in him after Shanks lost his left arm. Mihawk has remained unharmed thus far throughout the entire series.
#3 – Silvers Rayleigh
“Dark King” Silvers Rayleigh is the former first mate of the Roger Pirates, known as the “Right Hand of the Pirate King”. He’s extremely powerful, easily one of the strongest characters introduced.
Shakky vouches for his strength by saying that he is “100 times stronger than all of you boys”, referring to the Eleven Supernovas.
Furthermore, when Garp was informed Rayleigh may be on Sabaody Archipelago, he told his men not to confront him, he reasoned that the Marines should not confront two legends, Whitebeard and Rayleigh at the same time.
Due to his phenomenal strength, he was able to fight Admiral Kizaru equally and he even managed to scratch the admiral. However, Rayleigh himself has admitted that he is not as young as he used to be, and can tire in battle. This may mean when he was in the prime of his strength he may have been even stronger than when he matched Kizaru, a true testament to his strength!
Rayleigh has tremendous physical strength despite his elderly age. He is powerful enough to kill several Sea Kings with his bare hands while swimming in the Calm Belt.
He is shown to possess great mastery of all three types of Haki.
#2 – Monkey D. Garp
Garp is easily one of the most powerful Marines and one of the strongest characters seen in the series.
In terms of combat, Garp has had several decades worth of experience, in both combat and navigating the harshest oceans within the volatile “New World”. Alongside Roger, he fought and prevailed against the very powerful Rocks Pirates, which consisted of three future Yonkos, earning him the epithet of “Hero of the Marines”. He was also well known for cornering and fighting Roger many times. Roger also stated that he and Garp had almost killed each other on numerous occasions.
The extent of Garp’s power and fame is evident round the time of the Battle of Edd War, three years before the future Pirate King died. It was revealed that he was offered the rank of Admiral several times throughtout his life. It should be noted that those who hold the rank of Admiral are regarded as the World Government’s “Greatest Military Powers” and are the strongest individual fighters within the World Government structure and the Marines.
Despite his advanced age, Garp still posseses tremendous strength.
#1 – Shanks
“Red Haired” Shanks takes the number one spot! He is Luffy’s role model and the man that our main protagonist wants to surpass one day. It makes sense in the series that Shanks is powerful because he is that character that the main protagonist wants to fight last on his journey. Shanks’ full fighting potential hasn’t been explored yet but there is a lot of hints that indicates Shanks is an extremely powerful individual. For starters, he was able to scare off a massive Sea King just by staring at it (until we figured out he used Conquerors Haki: the strongest form of Haki). He also clashed evenly with Whitebeard, a fellow Emperor and even fought another, Kaido, and arrived at Marineford without a scratch on him. Additionally, he managed to ward off Ankinu where the savage admiral seemed a bit shocked at his presence and stopped going after Luffy after he came. Most of all, Blackbeard, who had the powers of the destructive Gura Gura no Mi and the evil Yami Yami no Mi chose not to fight Shanks saying “he is not strong enough to fight him yet”. That right there makes Shanks a force to be reckoned with and definitely one of the strongest guys in the series.
