The new Changan Alsvin starts at P579k

Changan made a splash recently as it re-entered the market under its new distributor, Changan Motor Philippines. With its return to the country, it brought along a rather interesting five-vehicle lineup, and we’re here to take a look at the first one: the Alsvin.

The Alsvin is Changan’s newest subcompact sedan. Starting at only P579,000, this is one of the Chinese carmaker’s most affordable offerings that is set to take on the likes of the MG 5.

Check out its official price list below:

2021 Changan Alsvin

Changan Alsvin 1.4L MT -P579,000

Changan Alsvin 1.5L DCT - P639,000

Changan Alsvin 1.5L DCT Platinum - P679,000

Right now, Changan is offering a special P40,000 introductory discount across the range, so if you book a unit now, you’ll get it for even less than the prices listed above.

The Alsvin comes with two engine options: a 1.4-liter powerplant and a 1.5-liter mill. The former generates 99hp and 135Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the latter is capable of 106hp and 145Nm and is mated to a five-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Inside, you get a host of niceties like leather seats, a sunroof, and a seven-inch touchscreen display, while LED daytime running lights are available in higher variants. Other extra features include a reversing camera, hill-hold control, and electronic stability control, depending on which variant you choose.

What do you think of this new contender in our market? Do you reckon the Changan Alsvin has what it takes to be a legitimate competitor in its segment considering its price? Or is the subcompact sedan market already oversaturated as it stands? Share your two cents in the comments.
